Petra walks in from the Gar Hold Entry Hall.

Paric chuckles, "Okay everyone, "Why don't we get started.  Who is here to attend the flamer lesson?"

Cira nods, and quickly raises ehr hand and says, "I am"

Laeron raises a gargantuan hand.

Mavrick smiles, "I am."

Atrus raises his hand. "Me."

Paric smiles and nods, "Great four of you.  Any one else?"

Petra waves goodbye to mav as she heads out, "sorry just passing through!"

Cera chuckles softly, "Hmm..I would say me to..but I don't think I need it again.."

Natch walks with a light step in from the Hold Field.

Mavrick waves, "Hope you slept well, ill see you later then."

Paric laughs, "Yea...thank you Cera."

Natch nods to one and all "Hello, Cera, Paric."

Petra starts on the long journey, moving toward the Fenced Lane and the northern reaches of Ista island.

Cira smiles at Cera, and watches closelt

Cera smiles and nods to Natch, "Hello again..class is just beginning.."

Natch steps to the side "I'm just an observer, today."

Paric smiles, "Okay...then, just to introduce myself...My name is Paric.  I'm one of the journeyman smiths on Ista.  And I know everyone but you, " he says indicating Cira.  "Can I ask you your name?" he says with a smile.

Cira nods, and quickly states out her name.. "I'm Cira" she says quietly..

Paric chuckles, "I'm very glad to meet you Cira.  I hope that you learn a lot today."

Cira smiles, "I know, I hope, Also"

Stephen walks in.

Natch nods a greeting to Stephen "Perhaps you can just watch?"

Paric smiles at his audience. "Okay...this is a flamer." he says indicating a large object with two tanks on it sitting on the ground next to him.  "It has many parts to it that must be properly maintained.  One of the things that I'd like to do is make sure that you always inspect the flamer you use for any damage prior to using it.  There is no reason to get injured because of carelessness."

Cera smiles softly as she notices Stephen, "Hell there..are you here for the class?"

Cira nods, and watches Paric Closely, interesting.. Yes, 'tis

Stephen smiles, "if i'm not to late."

Cera smiles, "No..they are just starting..hmm just listen..Paric.." pointing to Paric "Is teaching.."

Paric smiles and picks up the flamer sitting next to him. "Okay, as you can see it has two tanks, a guage, tubing and the wand.  You'll want to check these for any dents, cracks or scratches.  If the tubing is worn, brittle, or cracking.  Don't use it!  It'll need to be repaired by the smithcraft."

Cira nods quietly, as she continues to watch Paric.. This is all interesting, and new to her

Stephen nods to cera and turns his atention to paric, listening ently.

Laeron smiles and raises a hand, "what if you're /in/ the smithcraft, paric?"

Atrus grins at Laeron.  "Then you fix it."

Laeron smirks.

Cira smiles quickly, as she watches the class laughing at some silly comments

Cera smiles, "Hmm Laeron..you should have a Journeryman or Master look at it..though you should be able to indentify and point the problem out to them and how it should be fixed."

Paric smiles, "You'll also notice that each has a safety that should be kept engaged when the flamer is not in use.  The holders and master smiths have keys to all of the flamers to disengage the safety mechanism.  However, anyone can engage them.   The only way you'll be able to use this to flame thread, or charge it, et cetera, is if the safety is off."

Laeron nods, "I'm a quick learner", he states grinning all too innocently.

Cera smiles to Laeron, "Flamethrowers are not something you just tinker with."

Paric smiles, "Cera, why don't we hand each of them one of the flamers."

Cera nods to Paric.

Cera lifts Gar Flamer GF2 and straps it on her back.

Laeron grins, "who said anything about tinkering?"

Cera hands Gar Flamer GF2 to Laeron.

Cera lifts Gar Flamer GF3 and straps it on her back.

Cera hands Gar Flamer GF3 to Atrus.

Cera lifts Gar Flamer GF4 and straps it on her back.

Cira nods quietly, and looks at Paric, nodding agian, and back to Cera, with a large grin.

Laeron examines a dial on his Gar Flamer GF2.

Laeron activates the safety mechanism on his Gar Flamer GF2.

Cera hands Gar Flamer GF4 to Cira.

Laeron says, "who left the safety off? hmm?"

Cira activates the safety mechanism on her Gar Flamer GF4.

Laeron smiles.

Cera looks at Laeron, "They were unsafed prior to the class..don't safety them."

Laeron sighs.

Stephen smiles and watches with enterest, making mentle notes.

Cera looks sternly at Laeron, "Excuse me..but you should be listening and paying attention and not coming out with smart remarks."

Cira gives out a cute smirk in Laer's way.

Laeron smiles, "Just being an active student, m'lady"

Cera lifts Gar Flamer GF5 and straps it on her back.

Paric looks at Laeron.  "Listen to her!"

Cera hands Gar Flamer GF5 to Eagle.

Natch stares at Learon, making a mental note of his face, just in case... and wonders why he looks so familiar.

Cera lifts Cera's Flamethrower and straps it on her back.

Cera hands Cera's Flamethrower to Mavrick.

Cera lifts Gar Flamer GF6 and straps it on her back.

Smiling Paric continues, Okay...we use a chemical called Agenothree to do two things.  One, flame and incinerate the thread. Two, to drown the escaping thread in the burrow that they create when the get past the dragonriders.   He chuckles, There is a nice side effect of the agenothree in that it'll also act as a fertilizer.

Cera smiles, "Ok..now did everyone get one?"

Cira nods quietly

Laeron nods.

Mavrick has connected.

Mavrick wakes up.

Cira looks at Paric.. "So, is it like, Herbeast Poop?"

Paric smiles, Okay...while it can ignite into flames, keep in mind that it is a very caustic substance that burns when it contacts you skin.  So it is very important that you follow our instructions very carefully.  He shakes his head, I don't want to have to deal with any burns today.  However, if you do end up getting any of the agenothree on you, rinse it off in water, large quantities of water until the pain subsides, then report to a healer.  Is this understood? he asks the students.

Cera smiles to Natch, "Excuse me..but could you use the key again and unsafety the flamers for me?"

OOC: Laeron says "now my flamer is safed :)"

Laeron smiles, "same here"

OOC: Mavrick says "Well im gonna go then, since i missed the class!"

Natch nods to Cera and give a hand

Paric smiles, "If you spill any of the agenothree.  Move away from it.  It will soak into the ground where it will act as a fertilizer and thereby become harmless to you and those around you."

Paric smiles, "Alright.  I will demonstrate how to charge a flamer.  And each of you will follow my example in turn as I call you."

Gar Hold CourtYard

You stand on the porch of Gar Hold.  Just inside you can see the elegant, yet simple design of this burgeoning hold.  Outside, you have a beautiful view of the hold valley.  Large trees line the trail here, creating a nice canopy of shade for the weiry traveller.  A couple of paths diverge from the hold to follow their own paths.  Each path is set with red brick cobblestone.  Flower Beds line the porch creating a nice feeling of returning home.  Several rockers, a bench or two, and a swing can be found on the porch, for those who wish to come out and enjoy the beauty of nature.

  It is a winter afternoon.  The fog has cleared, finally, and the sky turned bright and blue, dotted with clouds.  A southerly wind stirs, and the day begins to feel downright pleasant.

Cera chuckles softly and moves away from the students and the flamethrowers.

Paric smiles, "These are to be used only on thread and thread burrows.  Okay...making sure that no one is in your way, locate your target and then depress the trigger.  I'll demonstrate this first, then each of you will do likewise when I indicate for you to do so."

Paric depresses the trigger on his Paric's Flamethrower. Instantly, a *huge* flame erupts from the end of the wand.

Flamer Target 1 instantly desintegrates, turning into a whisp of ozone, and carbon monoxide.

There is an audible 'clack' from Paric's Paric's Flamethrower, and the flame disappears with the remains of the Flamer Target 1.  Paric looks around for another target.

Mavrick moves back, big flame, but cant help but think of how cool that looked.

Paric smiles, "Okay..make sure that you step away from the group and then aim at your target, and depress the trigger.  Okay...Laeron, you first!"

Paric smiles and watches as Atrus incinerates the target with his flamer. "Very good.  Everyone is doing excellent. Okay, who's next.  Stephen! Your turn!"

Atrus looks suprisedly at his flamethrower.  "That was not easy like you said Laeron!"

Cera smiles to Laeron, "Hmm..but then you can recharge can't you?"

Stephen nods nervicely and step away from the group, taking careful aim at the target.

Paric shakes his head.  "You will hopefully have a sky full of dragons taking care of most of it."

Paric grins, "Good!  Okay...at the end of a hard day of destroying thread, we still will need to drain and safety the flamers before putting them away.  So lets head back over to the charging unit and I'll demonstrate how to do that."

Mavrick walks back over to the charger along with the others.

Stephen smiles and follows paric.

Paric smiles "Okay...to drain the agenothree from the flamer, you need to hook it up to the charging unit and reverse the process that you used to fill it.  First set the flamer on the ground.

Paric smiles, "Thank you Laeron.  Atrus?"

Atrus nods.  "Yep, all safe and sound." He grins.

Mavrick asks, "Where do you want them?"

Paric grins, "I think you all should give yourselves a pat on the back.  You all did very well today."  Chuckling, "Are there any questions I can answer before we are done?"

Eagle shakes his head.

Laeron pats himself on the back.

Atrus shakes his head. "Not that I can think of."

Stephen shakes his head, trying to pat himself on the back, but no quite reaching.

Camma walks in.

Eagle smiles at Stephen "I would like to talk to you after we are down here."

Natch nods and waves at Camma.

Paric chuckles, "Okay...in that case, I'm glad to have been able to be your instructor today.  If you can make sure that you place the flamers next to the charging unit, I think that we can call it a day!"

Eagle removes Gar Flamer GF5 from his back and carefully sets it down.

Camma smiles as she comes into the yard, "Hi everyone..done witht the class yet?"

Camma smiles and moves next to Natch, "Heh heh..did they burn the hold at all?"

Eagle says, "Stephen?"

Paric laughs and shake his head, picking up his flamer."

You lift Paric's Flamethrower and strap it on your back.

Stephen nods to eagle and sets his flamer gently beside the charging unit with a smile to paric, "thank you sir for teaching the lesson."

Natch looks around to make sure "No, I don't think they quiet managed.

Atrus move his flamer near the charging unit.

Eagle smiles at Paric "Thank you for the very informing lesson."

Cera grins and winks to Camma, "Not yet..but they sure were close.."

Paric smiles, "Camma...will you need help moving these back inside?  I have two apprentices here that just love doing work!" he says grinning at Atrus and Laeron.

Laeron smiles, "aye Paric.  Thanks"

Stephen smiles at eagle, "yes?" he asks.

Natch nods and chuckles at Paric, "I think it's a wonderful idea."

Paric chuckle, "Your welcome, everyone."

Camma chuckles softly, "Yeah..that would help a lot.."

Eagle smiles back to Stephen "How are you today?"

Atrus shakes his head at Paric and grins. "Only if we need too...er...forget I said that." He grins even more

Stephen grins and looks around, then back at eagle, "i'm doing well, and yourself?"

Natch chuckles "come, I'll show you where to put them."

Eagle smiles, "I am doing fine."
